(While you read this, think of me rubbing my hands in glee à la evil gremlin.)
While the final year thesis is keeping me busy, I’ve also made a promise to myself to not give up things I love– like crafting– which I believe keeps me sane. Which is why I decided a couple of weeks back to reserve a space at the Junk in Da Trunk event at Raw Kitchen Bar. In case you haven’t already heard, Paper Exploits’s Booth #4 is happening this Sunday 19 September, from 2.30 – 5.50 p.m.!
Anyway, I just wanted to share some photos of a new product that will be introduced at the booth– a sneak peek, if you will. I have been so excited that my next booth’ll be in an open-air garden-themed space, so I wanted to create something to reflect that laid black breezy feel. Enter pretty eight-pointed handmade Vintage Pinwheels!
Made with two pieces of coordinating paper, these pinwheels spin off in a frenzy at the slightest breath of wind! They’re pretty large too, and are so versatile. The most obvious use would be out in the garden or on a patio, I suppose, but what I love about it are the possibilities! Adorning a wedding, as party decor, next to the guest bathroom mirror, as party favours…
Here’s a close-up of one of my favourites. Pretty Eggshell Blue floral paper, with bright Cherry. I love the layers that come together to form the center. I’ve inked the edges to give it a really subtle vintage look to evoke an old-school garden party feel– children running around barefoot, dragging these in the wind, anyone?
The multiple layers and different pieces make this a pretty time-consuming project! I even had to drill holes into the wooden sticks to allow for the pinwheel head to get mounted. As such, there’ll only be 6 up for grabs this Sunday, so if you’re intrigued come down and pick one (or a few) up for yourself! I promise there are other fun and breezy colours!

What’s the price for this sweet thing?
